President Dr. Arif Alvi on Tuesday chaired the first meeting of the Federal Task Force on Population at the President House in Islamabad. The taskforce has been constituted under Ehsaas Programme. The meeting aimed to facilitate the participation of the chief ministers. President Alvi said that the dream of a prosperous Pakistan could not be materialized without having effective management of population growth and stressed upon close collaboration between the Ministry of National Health Services and provincial governments in this regard. The president also stressed upon the federal and provincial offices to coordinate implementation of the action plan to make it a success. Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation said, “It will take everyone’s effort to turn the corner. We need to be much bolder with the population narrative”.
