Dr. Baghar Larijani, Deputy Minister for Health and Education, Islamic Republic of Iran along with a five-member delegation of senior officers from his Ministry called on Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation in Islamabad. The meeting aimed to explore areas of mutual collaboration for human capital development. Dr. Larijani was on a visit to Pakistan from Dec 24-27, 2019. Dr. Nishtar briefed the delegation about multisectoral Ehsaas programme that it has 134 policy actions and programmes that are being implemented by 34 federal ministries/divisions and agencies and expressed interest to learn from the experience of Iranian poverty programme. Dr. Larijani termed the Ehsaas Programme as highly transformational, as it is the largest ever social protection and poverty alleviation programme in Pakistan to promote human capital investment. Both parties agreed to exchange delegations and work more closely in areas of health and education for the uplift of poor populations.
