The Federal Cabinet gave approval to the exit of 820,165 names from the BISP database, describing the beneficiaries as “undeserving”. Using forensic data analysis, Ehsaas found they were ineligible for support based on the critieria below. This translates into saving of PKR 16 billion for the government annually. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar stated that the exit of undeserving beneficiaries of BISP stipends will pave the way for the most deserving to be included. “Let me assure all, this will be done in an objective, apolitical & transparent manner. Data audit trail for each case excluded & included will be available.” Adding further, she elaborated, “Our own interest lies in progress of national institutions and strengthening these institutions is indispensable for improving the lives of poor citizens of our country".
